Oshyn upgrades a self-hosted legacy Sitecore website to the latest version on Azure cloud, utilizing a new architecture to optimize security and performance.
The Challenge
From large-scale solar farms that power cities to clean energy projects backed by government funding, this global solar provider plays a pivotal role in helping the world transition to renewable energy. Developers, utility providers, and policymakers researching these systems require fast and intuitive access to product data and sustainability credentials demonstrating an organization’s commitment to environmental, social, and economic responsibility.
However, the provider’s existing Sitecore XM 8.1 implementation needed an upgrade. Running on an outdated version of Sitecore left it without essential security patches and made it more vulnerable to malicious attacks. It also meant missing out on crucial performance enhancements available, which could improve SEO, site speed, and conversions. To upgrade them to the latest version of Sitecore and migrate to the cloud, they contacted Oshyn.
The Solution
Oshyn was selected because of its extensive Sitecore experience. The development team upgraded Sitecore XM 8.1 to the latest version, Sitecore XM 10.4. It migrated the existing on-premises infrastructure to a cloud-hosted solution on Microsoft Azure, which would improve scalability and remove the hardware burden for future upgrades.
These upgrades would bring enhanced performance and reliability, support for Docker containers for efficient deployment, improved security features, and allow for seamless integration with modern technologies.
Oshyn also migrated the GeoIP from MaxMind to Sitecore IP Geolocation to improve personalization accuracy and reduce costs by removing a third-party integration and relying on Sitecore’s capabilities. Oshyn also optimized the search experience by implementing SearchStax to enhance reliability and maintainability.

The Outcome
Since upgrading to the latest version of Sitecore XM, the solar provider has experienced a significant performance improvement.
