Upgrading a cloud-hosted Sitecore XP instance improves site performance and adds additional critical business features for a long-time Sitecore maintenance customer.
The Challenge
From the semiconductors used for high-speed wireless connections powering streaming services to the optocouplers enabling high-reliability solutions for demanding military and space applications, Skyworks products serve the world’s most vital industries.
So, the engineers searching for these components need fast access to detailed technical data and easy-to-navigate product selections.
With support for their existing Sitecore 9 implementation ending, Skyworks needed to upgrade to Sitecore 10. Website performance had begun to diminish, and the versions of jQuery and Bootstrap used on the front end had become outdated, introducing potential security vulnerabilities.
Additionally, Skyworks wanted to add new Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) user experience features to provide a more user-friendly digital experience for engineers who would source and interact with their products online. As a long-time Oshyn customer, Skyworks contacted them to handle this upgrade.
The Solution
Oshyn was selected due to its extensive experience performing Sitecore upgrades. Using its proprietary Sitecore XP upgrade process, Oshyn upgraded the Skyworks website to Sitecore XP 10.4, which not only made the initial upgrade smoother but also made future upgrades easier.
Oshyn upgraded jQuery and Bootstrap to the latest stable versions to address security vulnerabilities and reduce the risk profile for security threats. They also added new ECAD UI/UX features and integrated a new marketplace API. These additions would improve the connections between the corporate website and the marketplace, transforming it into a proper sales channel and increasing conversions.
The Outcome
Following the upgrade to Sitecore 10.4, Skyworks experienced a significant performance improvement, with PageSpeed Insight scores improving 113% on desktop and 300% on mobile. Additionally, security vulnerabilities were significantly reduced, and marketplace conversions increased.
