The Challenge

With support for Sitecore 8.2 getting ready to expire, CAR needed to upgrade to the latest version of Sitecore 10.2. to provide their customers with a fresh and engaging experience. However, this also meant that the new website would need search enhancements to enable real estate users to quickly find content and additional work to integrate with other tools previously part of the tech stack.

As a company that heavily leveraged video in education and marketing campaigns, CAR relied on Brightcove’s streaming capabilities to deliver that content to its visitors. Consequently, the integration with Brightcove needed to be rebuilt to be compatible with Sitecore 10.2. Along with these upgrades, the new website had to be integrated with Cloudflare, which provided a global CDN, and a custom SSO integration had to be re-established using OKTA.

The Solution

Oshyn offered proven success doing upgrades of Sitecore without business disruption and was earmarked as the perfect choice to help CAR. After setting up infrastructure to migrate CAR to the latest version of Sitecore, the Oshyn upgrade team worked for ten weeks on the project.

Sitecore was implemented on premises so the CAR team could maintain consistency, control, and security of their existing systems. With the help of proprietary migration tools developed in-house by Oshyn, the implementation and content migration was completed quickly and accurately with all features and functionality in place. Part of the process involved upgrading to the latest .NET framework and Visual Studio and obtaining the latest Sitecore NuGet packages.

Additionally, Oshyn worked with the CAR IT team to define and configure critical DevOps infrastructure, including CDN, WAF, Load Balancers, servers, databases, and networks. The CI/CD pipeline was also built using JetBrains, TeamCity, and Octopus.

The Outcome

Oshyn successfully upgraded the CAR website with all content and functionality working as before in previous versions of Sitecore. Oshyn also implemented centrally managed SSL certificates that would streamline acquisition, deployment, and renewal processes and give the IT administrators complete transparency over their SSL environments. The CAR editors were also treated to an elevated experience with the rollout of the new Horizon editor, a next-gen content editing tool that offers an in-line editing interface.
