The Challenge
What a guest experiences on a website is often the first impression of what they’ll feel on the slopes. If the trail map stutters, checkout drags, or the snow report fails to load, the excitement of a family vacation in the mountains turns to hesitation, and passes go unsold.
Alterra Mountain Company was experiencing this problem as its marketing team struggled with an outdated legacy CMS and the difficulty of updating the website. They needed a new DXP solution with modern marketing tools to enhance their customer experience and increase ticket sales, but they weren’t sure which platform would be the best choice for their needs and budget. Alterra contacted Oshyn to assist in selecting the right platform and implementing the website redesign.
The Solution
Alterra selected Oshyn due to its decades of experience in the digital experience space. This experience enabled Oshyn to identify the key questions to ask during stakeholder interviews, thereby understanding the essential user stories and requirements for a new DXP.
Drawing on industry analysis from leading firms like Gartner, Forrester, and the Real Story Group, Oshyn and Alterra first identified a pool of potential vendors. Oshyn then collaborated with Alterra's various departments to prioritize features, classifying them as either essential must-haves or desirable nice-to-haves. They also considered key maintenance needs for Alterra's IT Department. This thorough evaluation helped them create a shortlist of vendors, from which they selected Sitecore as the best fit.
Oshyn replaced an outdated legacy CMS with a powerful, integrated marketing platform on Sitecore. Oshyn redesigned the Alterra website on the new Sitecore DXP and provided standardized templates for each resort. This would enable the Alterra team to manage and maintain the solution effectively going forward. Oshyn also integrated area net weather data feeds, the resort’s interactive media provider, and a custom CRM.

The Outcome
With the new Sitecore solution, the Alterra marketing team can quickly and easily deploy targeted campaigns with a simple, dynamic promotion system. Also, real-time resort information for events, snow conditions, and weather is now easily accessible on multiple devices, including mobile, providing an omnichannel guest experience.
