Oshyn creates an iOS and Android mobile app experience for employees to manage their retirement portfolio.
The Challenge
For the thousands of public employees across Texas, including sheriff’s deputies on night shifts, county clerks managing busy offices, firemen, and EMTs, access to a trusted retirement fund helps them secure their financial future. However, for many of these professionals, accessing the TCDRS website only from a desktop limited their ability to check their retirement balances and monitor progress.
TCDRS sought to deliver a consistent and engaging experience to its customers across multiple channels, enabling them to manage their retirement portfolios on various devices. They selected Oshyn to build an easy-to-use mobile app that would meet its goal due to Oshyn's experience with TCDRS’s member services portal and extensive mobile app development expertise.
The Solution
Oshyn created iOS and Android mobile apps launched in the app stores using a streamlined development approach that brought the apps to market significantly faster than traditional mobile app lifecycles.
Oshyn also implemented passkey functionality for the TCDRS portal. This functionality provides TCDRS customers with easier and more secure access to the portal, allowing them to toggle between multiple devices while reducing the likelihood of their credentials being compromised via phishing.
Additionally, their portal, which was partially based on the Okta authentication toolset, was redesigned with a TCDRS-branded experience, a user-friendly interface, and enhanced portal security.
The Outcome
TCDRS launched new mobile apps and a redesigned login experience, which have received rave customer reviews. Thanks to the connected experience across multiple devices, firefighters, EMTs, and other service professionals across Texas now have access to critical retirement information. With their minds at ease about retirement, they can focus on providing the best possible service to the citizens of Texas.
