The Challenge

The American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) is more than the world’s largest specialty nursing organization — they are an exceptional community of acute and critical care nurses offering unwavering professional and personal support in pursuit of the best possible patient care.

AACN was interested in upgrading to the latest version of Sitecore and fixing scalability issues. Migrating to Sitecore 9 or higher frequently requires planning and preparation due to significant architectural changes. In the case of AACN, different systems integrations and third-party platforms also added to the complexity.

The Solution

Oshyn performed a comprehensive Sitecore Tech Audit to review Sitecore configuration and architecture, C# code analysis, server configuration, and adherence to best practices.

The audit was performed by a team of experts using automated tools. Team members included experts in Sitecore development, architecture, C# experts, UI developments experts, Technical Architects, and Business Analysts that specialize in Sitecore optimization.

The audit revealed the Sitecore system was in a state of distress. Oshyn quickly reduced the pressure by fixing emergencies and providing a roadmap for future fixes that would allow AACN to take full advantage of the platform and prepare to upgrade to Sitecore 9.

The Outcome

Oshyn updated the architecture for AACN, removing dependencies on third-party solutions like XCore and upgrading the servers so that they would be Sitecore 9 compatible.

Following a move to a cloud-based platform away from on-premise, performance and security updates were also made to prevent against unscrupulous attacks.
